Department Of Physical Education

The department offers opportunities and facilitates the participation of students in sports tournaments and championships at College and University level in numerous games like Weight Lifting, Power Lifting,Cross-Country,Volley Ball, Kabaddi(N.S), Kabaddi(H.S), Cricket, Boxing, Wrestling, Badminton, Yoga, Taekwondo, Athletics,  Relay Race etc. GGDSD students have shown their mettle in games, like Weight Lifting,  power, Cricket, Boxing, Wrestling, Kabaddi, Taekwondo and bagged medals at national and internation tournaments/championships.

Importance Of Sports

The advantages of competing in college sports are both Immediate and life long Participating in college sports provides opportunities to learn, compete and succeed.Student-athletes receive top-notch academics support,quality medical care and regular access to outstanding coaching, facilities and equipment.Student-athletes as a group graduate at higher rates than their peers in the general student body and feel better prepared for life after college.

Objectives

  1. To provide quality sports facilities allowing students to excel in sports.
  2. To facilitate students to maximize their sporting potential and find a game that they can participate and enjoy.
  3. To develop sense of fair play,honest competition and sportsmanship.
  4. To promote physical and mental well-being of students.
  5. To develop self-esteem and self-confidence in students throught positive sporting experiences.
  6. To develop leadership skills and foster qualities to co-operation,tolerance,consideration,trust and responsible through sporting activites and events.
  7. To develop individual and teams in games with high skills so as to achieve excellence.

Infrastructure & Facilities

The college has impressive state-of-the-art sports infrastructure comprising of Auditorium with Weightlifting and Power lifting platform, 2 Badminton court and vast lush green open field with 200mts running track . Also have open volleball and kabbadi court . The multipurpose sports stadium provides high level of comfort to the players and spectators.

The sports committee exists as an affiliate of the department of Physical Education and Sports. The basic functions of the Committee are to organize sports tournaments at intra and inter college level, sports carnival. It provides students an opportunity to build their organizational, leadership and teambuilding capabilities.

The Sports department organized the Festival of Athletic meet in the College in February 23rd -24th 2016. The Opening Ceremony had Mr. Mahinder Kalra; President of Governing Body GGDSD college Palwal. The Meet was declared opened by the Sh. S.P Vij Secretary, Sanatan Dharam Partinidhi Sabha . The major events were 100 mtr, 200 mtr, 400mtr, 800 mtr, Long Jump, High Jump, Triple Jump, Shot put, Staff Race, Peon Race. For the Closing Ceremony by Sh. Ashok Mangla, Vice President, Governing Body GGDSD, College, Palwal was the chief guest. He emphasized the role of sports in college life in his speech.

  2. Mr.Devesh partisipated in All India Inter-Varsity Rifle & Pistol Shooting championship held at GNDU, Amritsar.
  3. Mr.Devesh secured Third position in North-Zone Pistol Shooting championship, held at Karni singh Shooting Range in Oct,16

General Rules & Regulation

  1. Bonafide students, Pass Holders and staff members shall have right to access the facilities of sports complex.
  2. The complex will be available for the users from Monday to Saturday between 08:00 am to 5:00 pm. The complex shall remain closed on Sunday and official holidays, except for special occasion.
  3. The college sports team member shall have preference of using the facilities of the sports complex over the other students and staff members.
  4. The visiting team must be escorted by teacher or coach.
  5. Spectators without authorization are not allowed.
  6. Visitors must maintain proper discipline and decorum in the Complex.
  7. Visitors should maintain proper cleanness in the complex.
  8. Use of alcohol & tobacco products is strictly prohibited in the Complex.
  9. Dogs/ pets are not allowed in any part of the complex. Violators shall be debarred from entry and/or pable for a fine up to Rs. 1000/-.
  10. Arms and ammunitions are prohibited in the complex.
  11. Visitors causing damage to the property of the college will have to make damage good/replaced.
  12. Vehicles in the Complex are not allowed, unless specifically permitted. Parking should be only in the parking lot or designated place in the College Campus.
  13. Publicity, marketing or slogans without permission is strictly prohibited. Disciplinary/penal action will be initiated against such person.
