Department of Commerce

GGD SD College, Palwal was established in 1955 in Haryana State. Commerce faculty was inaugurated by Sh. Bhajan Lal, (Ex C.M of Haryana) in July 1982 and Ch. Narayan Singh was the principal of the college at that time. In beginning Dr. B.D. Gupta and Dr. R.C. Dehra were initially appointed as faculty.At present,our department is offering B.COM(Voc) , M.COM and BBA courses.

The B.Com is a comprehensive course of 3 years. The Commerce Programme include diverse subjects like communication, accounts, management, marketing, managerial skills economic, banking, Law, etc. Along with this the students of commerce are exposed to Seminars, Individual and Group Discussions, Case Study, Report Writing, Viva-Voice, Industry Visit etc which helps the students in developing their personility.

  • Future option: B.Com student can do M.Com, M.A(Eco), LL.B, MBA ,MCA, Chartered Accountant(C.A), Institute of Cost and Works Account (ICWA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), Charted Financial Analysed (CFA), Company Secretary(CS) and PH.D (after post graduate), etc.
  • Competitive Edge: A student of B.Com is better prepared to appear for various competetive examinations i.e. Teaching in Commerce, Bank P.O, C.A, LIC, Taxation Services, Para-Military, SSC, UPSC, Customs Services Defence Services, IAS etc. because of greater awareness.

The college offers Post Graduate Course in Commerce for the students who wish to persue higher studies. In order to cater the need of this students who are not able to pursue the commerce courses on regular basis certain courses VIZ, B.Com, M.Com are available in distance mode as well. Research Facilities in Commerce and Management are also available. Commerce students can pursue Higher Studies in Management, Economics, Marketing, Finance, Human Resources, International Business, Trade and Commerce, Communication, etc.

The function was started by enlighten the lamp in front of Maa Saraswati Murti. The celebration began with a divine song invoking the blessings of God followed by a group dance on Haryanvi song presented by Manjeet, Sangeeta and Tarun of BBA



This contest was conducted by staff members. In all, five teams were participated.



In the beginning of the session2016, M.COM (f) students organized a fresher party for M.COM(P) students. Neha and Asha hosted this programme. This programme was started with enlighten the lamp by principal sir (Dr. M.k Arora). Various cultural activities were performed by students like singing, dancing, one act play on the topic “ Women Education In India”.
